Funeral Services for Mrs. Davis:
Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Davis were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the city auditorium in Decatur. Officiating at the last rites were a cousin of the deceased, Rev. C.C. Thompson of Bentonville, Ark., and the Rev. Nathan Lutes, former pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Lyons. Two duet numbers, “Have Thine Own Way” and “How Great Thou Art” were offered by Mrs. Glenn Miller and Mrs. George Brewer, with Mrs. Raymond Halstead as organist. Pallbearers were James McCluskey, Larry Kellogg, Bob Kellogg, Marvin Martin, Randall Martin and LeRoy Rich. Interment was in Decatur Cemetery with Hamel and Peck Mortuary in charge.
Eva Viola Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Lyght, was born on December 3, 1916 at Minot, N. D. She moved with her family to the Decatur area when she was a child and spent the remainder of her life here. On December 2, 1936, she was united in marriage to Lenton Everal Davis of Decatur. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1952.
Mrs. Davis spent many years as an active church worker and served as pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Lyons. Recently, she had been faithful in attendance in the Assembly of God Church in Lyons. Her devotion to her family and faith will be long remembered.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three sons, Lenton Everal of Sergeant Bluff, IA, George and Charles of Decatur; one daughter, Mary Gradert of Emerson; her mother, Mrs. C. E. Lyght of Lyons; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Rich of Grand Island, Mrs. Durward Martin of Fremont and Miss Lillian Lyght of Lyons, and four grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends are also bereaved.
