Fred M Parsons, Sr., 82, of Menomonie, died Jan. 23 at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie.

Mr. Parsons was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Decatur, Neb. to William and Katie (Kellogg) Parsons. Fred was raised Decatur and graduated from high school there. He drove truck for his father and other trucking companies for many years. He retired from trucking in 1979 after driving for the last 16 years for International Multi Foods, Inc. He was a member of Teamsters union Local 120. Fred also farmed part-time for over 30 years in the Wilson area.

Fred married Barbara Blake on Apr. 16, 1955, in Kansas City, MO. He and his wife have lived in the town of Menomonie the past two years. Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife, Barbara Parsons of Menomonie; one daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Dahl of Knapp; two sons, Randy (Brenda) Parsons of Knapp and Fred, Jr. (Shantel) Parsons of Menomonie; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Jonathan, Renee, Brandon, Jessica, Justin, Shannon and Lance; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, C.M. Parsons, and a sister Vera Gorham.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Rev. David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in the Town of Standon, Dunn County. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and an hour before the service on Tuesday.
