James Cameron
Maryott was born
October 30, 1947 in
Blair, Nebraska to
Jack and Jacqueline
(Eagleton) Maryott.
He passed away
December 8, 2017, at
the age of 70, at
his residence in
Decatur, Nebraska,
after a year and a
half long struggle
with cancer.
Jim was confirmed in
the Lutheran Church
of Decatur in 1961.
He graduated from
Decatur High School
in 1965. He then
entered Concordia
Teachers College for
two years before
signing on with the
United States Air
Force. He served
from February…
1967 through
February 1971. Upon
discharge, he stayed
in Utah with his
aunt and uncle,
where he met the
love of his life
Debbie Stecklein. He
found full-time work
there, at Hill Air
Force Base, as a
firefighter for 35
years. During that
time, he earned an
Associates Degree in
Distributive
Education and Art
from Weber State
University in Ogden,
Utah. He retired
from firefighting in
2002.
After retirement, he
found many part-time
jobs working at
Sportsman’s
Warehouse for 4
years in Riverdale,
Utah, Decatur
Tollhouse for 4
years and Tooly’s
Bottle Shop. His
hobbies were
hunting, fishing,
tying flies and
having fun with
friends and family
on or near a river.
He loved fly fishing
and did so every
time he went to the
Northern Mountains
of Utah.
He was preceded in
death by his
parents; infant
brother, Jerry Burt;
a multitude of
ducks, geese,
pheasants, turkeys
and fish.
He is survived by
his little brother,
Big John (Sheila)
Maryott of Decatur;
wife, Debbie;
daughters, Jill
Maryott and Jaclyn (Maryott)
Swaner;
grandchildren,
Austin, Alexandra,
Jack, Steven, Shayla,
Madison and Aiden;
many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
