Thomas Wels (Deceased)
David “Thomas” Wells was born June 16, 1968 in New York City, NY. He passed away 19 Feb 2019 in Gilbert, Arizona at the age of 50. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Thomas spent his early childhood years in Brentwood, CA and his high school years in Decatur, NE, graduating in 1986. Upon graduating from high school Thomas enlisted in the US army and served in Germany as an Engineer heavy equipment operator. Upon discharge from the army (1990) Thomas started at Arizona State University and joined the Arizona Army National Guard. His unit was immediately called up for service in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm. When the Gulf war ended Thomas returned to Arizona State to earn a degree as a construction engineer in 1995. While at State he took the ROTC program and was commissioned as a 2LT in the core of Engineers, Arizona National Guard. At the time of passing Thomas was a Senior Project Manager with Haydon Building Corp. and held the rank of retired Major, from the Arizona National Guard having served over 21 years. He received many medals and awards and was very activity in the Boy Scout program. Thomas married at Chandler, AZ, on 18 Mar 2000 to Stephanie Ayers (daughter of Michell & Kathy Ayers of Lincoln, NE). Together they had three boys: Charles Thomas Wells, b.2003; Samuel Mitchell Wells, b.2005 and Alexander John Wells, b.2009. Besides his family Thomas is also survived by his mother, Janice Byram Wells, and his brother John Wells, his uncle, John Arnold Byram and loving in-laws, military comrades and a host of long-time friends.
