Funeral services were Saturday, March 17,
2012, at Root Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa, for
Y'Vonne Deloris Beaty, 85, of Onawa. Pastor Karen
Garrison officiated. Music for the service included
"Amazing Grace" and "Claire De Lune." Y'Vonne died
Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Creighton University
Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Y'Vonne was born May 19, 1926, in Decatur, Neb. to
Walter William and Fern Irene (French) Harmon. She
was raised on a farm between Decatur and Macy, Neb.,
and attended country school at Elm Grove before
graduating from Decatur High School in 1944.
Following high school, Y'Vonne attended one year of
business school in Blair.
November 21, 1946, Y'Vonne was united in marriage to
Allen Thomas Beaty in Sioux City, Iowa. They made
their home in Decatur for one year then moved by
horse and wagon to a farm north of Decatur. They
raised their family on this farm until moving to
Onawa in 1988. Allen died October 13, 1988.
Y'Vonne enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading,
embroidering and was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
She is survived by her
children, Joyce (David) Hittle of Lyons, Neb., Joe
Beaty of Wakefield, Neb., Jackie (Rich) Richards of
Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jimmie Beaty of Onawa, Patty
(Jeff) Hanson of Sioux City, Larry Beaty and Rita
Gill of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Garry (Sheri)
Beaty of Sloan, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren;
thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia
(Harmon) Richards and husband James of Seattle,
Wash.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Allen; infant daughter, Mary Rose; and one brother,
Howard Harmon.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey
Hanson, Christopher Hanson, Michael Beaty, Brent
Sherman, Rich Richards and Joshua Nagunst.
Root Funeral Home (formerly Pearson Chapel) in Onawa
provided professional services.
