(Information taken from 50th Alumni Booklet May 1998. Please send an e-mail to update information at any time.) Spouse: Jim (Deceased) Children: Steve and Royale Step-Children: Janna Bellandi and Nancy Gundersen Grandchildren: Jason, Stephanie, Ali, Carly and Sadie Step-Grandchildren: Sean, Jim & Jacob (twins) Troy, Teresa, Frank, Jason, Colleen & Lisa My current occupation is one of helping my two sisters, Violet and Roma, be care-givers for our 98 years old Dad, who is still living in his own home. (He beat Violet and I, 3 out of 5 games yesterday!) My last trip was one spent with my husband's sister, Jean, from Hawaii. We met in North Carolina to visit the Hewitt family in Virginia and Tennessee. We all went to Gatlinburg and Dollywood in the Great Smokey Mountains, which were beautiful and I truly enjoyed Dollywood. Then Jean and I flew to Williamsburg, rented a car, and toured Jamestown, Yorktown and all the surrounding area. It is like a step back in history. I wish every American could visit there. My hobbies consist of quilting, which happens to be on the back burner right now, and Violet and I play Bingo twice a week at Sam's Town. It is a great outing that doesn't cost much and great when you hit the $1,000 coverall, which all 3 of us girls did twice in the same month last year! Any of you coming to Las Vegas, give me a call and I'll meet you in the Bingo room at Sam's Town!! Jim and I purchased a lot overlooking Lake Mead, with plans to build our retirement home. We celebrated our 25th anniversary in June 1985, and Jim passed away the following November without fulfilling our dream. After a period of adjustment, I pulled up my boot straps and went ahead with the plan. I sold our home in California, designed a house, took a class in hiring a general contractor and had a home built on our lot. A big job, but with lots of prayers and encouragement from family and friends, I accomplished my goal and it turned out great. A real plus is that the Bighorn sheep walk in front of my home every day in the summer. They come down the mountain and go to the local park to eat the grass. Tour busses stop at the park so the visitors can see the sheep. I love living in Nevada. There is a lot to see and do, plus I get to see a lot of family and friends that come to Las Vegas. It means a lot that I have my Dad and 2 sisters living here--without family, we have nothing. Updated: 4/7/09 |
