     Blackie was born November 16, 1922 and passed away on July 14, 1982 at the age of 59.

     He was one of 6 sons and 1 daughter of Dwight and Genevieve Johnson.

     He was active in sports while attending Decatur High School.  Prior to the war, he was a member of the CCC's serving in the Western part of the State and participated in the planting of trees at Halsey National Forest.

     Blackie served in the Marines during WW II, being wounded at Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart.

     He spent many years with the State Highway Maintenance Department.  During some of these years he was located at Lyons, NE and served as a Boy Scout Leader.  Prior to his death, he was a Scale Officer with the State of Nebraska near Ashland, NE.

     Blackie has one granddaughter, Linda and one grandson, James.
