Don Flower Died in Action Published Burt County Plaindealer 6-21-45  Mrs. Don Flower received last week official notice of the death of her husband, Don Flower, in the Pacific area. Mrs. Flower’s sorrow is double, as she recently received word of the death of her brother, Don Stillman, in Germany.


Lyons Mirror Sun published June 21, 1945 Mrs. Marv Flower received official notice of the death in action overseas of her husband, Donald Flower, some time ago. He leaves his parents, wife and three children. Remains of Donald Flower, War Hero brought Home The earthly remains of Donald Flower, 27, who sacrificed his life for his county on April 16, 1945 in Europe, were laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery at Decatur, Friday, March 18th.


Donald Flower was born at Walthill, Nebr. On December 13, 1917. He was the son of Glen and Margaret Flower of Glen Falls, N.D. During the time he was in the service, he received the Bronze Star for meritorious service and was commissioned to 2nd Lieut. in the field.
 

In Tallahassee, Florida in March 1944, He was united in marriage to Mary Stillman Meyer. To this union, one son was born, Thomas Flower.

Survivors of the deceased include: his wife, Mary; son, Thomas; two step-sons Basil and Harry Myers; mother, Margaret Graham of Red Oak Iowa,; father Glen Flower of Glen Falls, N.Dak.; Paul and George Flower and their families, brothers, both of Omaha.

Funeral services for Donald Flower were held at the Holy Name Church with Rev. Father Borer officiating. Friday, March 18th. Arrangements were in charge of Schafer and Peck of Tekamah, Nebr.


Other out of town mourners who attended the funeral were: Mr. Graham of Red Oak, IA; Mel Darling of O’Neill, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Schemdeskamp of Walthill; Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Wilder of Tekamah; Mrs. Rutledge and Mrs. Graham of Omaha.
