Edwin Alfred Hanson 1931 - 1991 O B I T U A R Y EDWIN ALFRED HANSON Funeral Card information -- In Memory of Edwin Alfred Hanson, born October 9, 1931 at Decatur, Burt County, Nebraska to Francis and Agnes G. Irvin. Ed passed away suddenly on March 2, 1991 at his home Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska from an aneurism. Funeral service was held on Tuesday March 5, 1991 at the John A. Gentleman Westside Chapel with Reverend Charles Bailey officiating. Pallbearers were; Bob Williams, Mark Kurmel, Don Kuhn, Charles Kurmel, Ernest Citta, Jr. and Douglas Stephens. Interment was in Decatur Hillcrest Cemetery at Decatur, Nebraska. Edwin Alfred Hanson was born on October 9, 1931 in Decatur, Nebraska to Francis and Agnes G. Irvin. He spent his formative years on the family farm and attending Ball Country School as well as Decatur Elementary School. Edwin graduated from Decatur High School in 1949. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and was wounded in the Korean War receiving a purple heart. After the war he attended Midland College graduating in 1955 with a BS in Education. Edwin married Ruth Maxine Graves in 1956. Edwin was a teacher and coach. He taught at Pender, Nebraska before moving to Omaha and teaching at Benson High School. He taught math and Biology at Benson. He was a dedicated educator obtaining his Master and Doctorate degrees from University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also coached football and track. He loved to play golf and fish. He was a great father to his three girls who survive him; Connie Lois Hanson Citta, Debra Jo Hanson, and Tammy Sue Hanson Stephens. He also is survived by one grandson Ernest Citta, III and one granddaughter Jessica Rose Stephens. |
