Elsie Mae Richards Elliot (deceased)
March 20, 1925 - February 6, 2006 Services were February 9, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Tekamah for Elsie M. Elliott. She died February 6,2006 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 80. She was born March 20, 1925, in Waterloo, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Austin) Richards. Her father left when she was a few weeks old and two years later her mother married Clarence Brockway of Decatur. The family moved often as her father worked different farm jobs. Elsie attended several schools and after they left the farm, the family moved to Decatur where she graduated from Decatur High School in 1943. She then worked at Eagleton's Department Store for a year. In 1944 she married Paul Elliott and as he was a farmer, they lived on a farm north of Tekamah. They raised three children. Beverly, Lonnie and Larry. She was a homemaker and especially enjoyed cooking. Memberships included First Baptist Church where she belonged to the American Baptist Women's Society, served on work groups and was a co-chairman of Rebecca Circle. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband on November 28, 1980; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Larry Dreeszen; granddaughter, Jennifer Elliott; and sister, Darlene Rich. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Linda Elliott and Larry and Vicky Elliott, all of Tekamah; four grandchildren, Paul Elliott and Brian Elliott and wife Laurie, all of Tekamah, Steve Carr and Wife Dawn of Moorhead; great grandchildren; sister, Bernice Hennig of Parker, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan and Joann Brockway of Corpus Christi, TX, Clarence and Nita Brockway of Decatur and Myron Brockway of Onaway, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Gennie Elliott of Craig. Rev. John A. Dennert officiated the rite. Music was provided by organist Juli Stone and vocalists Kevin Brenneis, Marilyn Morrow and Ed and Mary Ann Prussa. Casket bearers were Paul Elliott, Brian Elliott, Steve Carr, Jeff Carr, Gus Grass and Russell Winnner. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church and Tekamah Rescue Squad.
