Esther Redding 1919-2008 The Daily Nonpariel, Council Bluffs, IA - 10/8/2008 Esther N. Redding, age 89, passed away October 5, 2008. Esther was born in Lyons, Neb., on April 13, 1919, to Glen and Lydia (Knapp) Redding. The oldest of ten children, Esther grew up on a farm in Decatur, Neb. She served as a bookkeeper for various businesses in her working career, her last being Betty's Flowers. Esther was a Women's Ordinance Worker during WWII and a active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, where she served as a deacon, elder and treasurer of the church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence, Larry and Mike Redding; sisters, Lois Neighbors and Edith Tondl. Survivors include brother, Charlie Redding (Georgia), of Decatur; sisters, Alice Harvey, of Dade City, Fla., Doris Ueding, of Onawa, Iowa, and Opal Neighbors, of Council Bluffs; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation with the family, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services, Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Pastor Aaron Simons, officiant. Luncheon will follow immediately after services in the church hall. Interment, 2:30 p.m., Advent Cemetery, Tekamah, Neb. Family will direct memorials. |
