Evonne Rae Snow was born October 15, 1929 to Earl and Eathol (Donohoe) Hightree near Walthill, Nebraska. She was one of four children. She passed away November 27, 2018, at Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years.

Evonne graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur, Nebraska. She married Kenneth Farrens on December 3, 1948 and had two children. Kenneth was killed in a farm accident July 6, 1950. She married Wilbur Snow in 1953 and together they had four children.

Evonne’s… generosity is well known. It was not uncommon to find a “guest” at Easter dinner, who was someone she’d just met at the town Mini Mart or who was a boater gassing up at the Decatur Marina. No one ever wanted for food, which was always fabulous and was almost always “mystery meat”. She enjoyed the outdoors, walking the marina and sitting under the giant cottonwood trees at her beloved home.

Evonne was a daughter, sister, mother, farmer’s wife, grandmother, Decatur Marina proprietor and friend. She has left a legacy where love, integrity and hard work were synonymous with her name; she has instilled this in all the people she has helped and loved over the years. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Farrens and husband, Wilbur Snow; son, Allen Snow; daughter, Kathy Jones; brother, Dale Hightree.
