Glen W. Tippery

 Glen W. Tippery was born to Roy and Myrtle (Hightree) Tippery on October 31, 1928, in rural Decatur, Nebraska. He passed away August 2, 2019 at Arbor Care Center in Tekamah, Nebraska.

Glen attended District 10 country school. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1945.

In December 1951, Glen enlisted in the Air Force and reported to San Antonio, Texas. He received furlough and spent the entire time helping to battle flooding in Decatur. He was transferred to Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas, Nevada. He spent most of basic training in the barracks, as the soldiers were quarantined, due to a case of spinal meningitis on the base. He served as a Clerk Typist and witnessed three nuclear bomb tests about 60 miles from Las Vegas. He was then transferred to Wyoming and Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, where he oversaw keeping records of service men, including some local men.

Glen was discharged in 1955 and returned to the family farm. On January 31, 1959, Glen married Joan Herndon. They settled in Quinnebaugh Township until 1999, when they moved to the home of his birth.

Glen was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church. He served as a youth leader, Sunday school treasurer and on the church board. He was a member of the American Legion Rogers-Crum Post No. 215 and served as Commander there for at least 35 years.

Glen dearly loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lyle and Vern Tippery; brothers-in-law, Erwin Hennig, James Magner, Crit Taylor, Edwin Stauber, Edward Loyd, Duaine Whitten, Paul Burklund; sisters-in-law, Helen Marie Tippery, Laura Tippery, Virginia Magner, Jane Taylor, Alberta Stauber, Anna Loyd, Beatrice Whitten, Esther Burklund; nephews, Phillip Hennig, Jamie Magner; nieces, Carol Tippery, Cheryl Card, Janis Felkor.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; brother, Elmer Tippery; sister, Velma Hennig; sisters-in-law, Helen Tippery, Gwen Menard Tippery; brothers-in-law, Wm. Charles Herndon, Reuben Herndon, Robert Herndon; about 37 nieces and nephews and their families.
