HAROLD ALFRED SWANSON, JR.
went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2006,
at the age of 77 years. He was born November 3, 1928, in
Craig, Nebraska, to Harold H. and Edna (Olson) Swanson.
Harold attended grade school at Bertha and Elm Creek. He
graduated from Decatur High School in 1946.
On November 25, 1960, Harold and
Evelyn (Henry) were united in marriage at Decatur. With
their combined families, they had ten children and one
son was born to this marriage.
Harold was a life-long farmer in the
Decatur area.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; one infant sister, Mary Lou, daughter-in-law,
Mary Powers, sons-in-law, Bob Wylie and Harvey Weller
and father-in-law, Lloyd Henry.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of
Decatur; six sons and daughters-in-law, Harold III and
Sharon Swanson of West Point, Nebraska; David and Laurie
Powers of Hebron, Nebraska; Calvin and Marie Swanson of
Lyons, Chad Powers of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Leslie and
Kellie Powers of Spencer, Iowa, Jerry Powers of Onawa,
Iowa; five daughters and sons-in-law: Charlene and Wayne
Greve of Ceresco, Nebraska, Candace and Thomas Foley and
Roxanne Johns all of Merrill, Iowa, Nancy Johnson of
Onawa, Iowa, Beverly Wylie of Beatrice, Nebraska;
brother, Elmer James Swanson of Decatur; three sisters,
Mary Ann Bacon, Donna Mae Preston and Lavonne Yanke all
of Lyons; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great
grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICE:
Wednesday, November 1, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at the RLDS
Church in Decatur, Nebraska
BURIAL: Baptist
Cemetery, rural Uehling, Nebraska
VISITATION: Tuesday,
1 - 8 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Pelan
Funeral Services Lyons Chapel. Visitation will also be
held Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the
service.
