Jack Byron Dunning
September 7, 1954 - December 20, 2025
Jack Dunning 71 years of Decatur, Nebraska.
The legendary Jack Byron Dunning was born on September 7, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska to Byron and Georgia (Stauss) Dunning of Decatur, Nebraska. He passed away on December 20,
2025, in rur al Thurston County.
Jack grew up in Decatur, Nebraska with his 10 siblings. When Jack was just 14 years old his Dad passed away and his Mom was left to raise the 11 children; Michaela, Georgann,
Jack, Tom, Kim, Sean, Marie, Terry, Jerry, Martie and Kevin. Then a saint by the name of Charlie Redding came and into their lives andmarried their Mom.;
He attended Decatur Public School where he played football and basketball and was a member of the track team. Out of high school Jack started helping Charlie on the family
farm and although he and Linda Kellogg did not love each other during high school somehow he won her over after high school with his smooth talking. They were married on
December 14, 1973, 52 years of marriage and two beautiful daughters were born Amy and Jenny.;
Jack had a love for motorcycles at a young age. He built his first chopper inside his and Linda's first home. However when his mother Georgia came over and saw his chopper in the middle of
the living room knowing that Linda was about to have their first baby she got him to move it out of there pretty quickly. Jack's love for motorcycles took him and Linda on many adventures
and in the winter those adventures were on snowmobiles. Even after a near death motorcycle accident in 2010, that didn't stop Jack from enjoying his life on two wheels. Jack was a champion
arm wrestler even getting Linda and the girls to try it. Over the top was a favorite movie often watched at their house. But his favorite passtime was probably riding his lawnmower mowing not
only his own lawn but what felt like lawns for the whole town of Decatur. But his absolutely most important role was being a Dad and Papa. He loved his girls, grandkids and great grandkids
with his whole heart. Beaming with such pride over his girls. Feeding popsicles to all the babies and giving nicknames to all the rest making them feel like they were his favorite. His sense
of humor was one of a kind and the memories will last forever. Jack never knew a strange. He had a heart of gold but was not afraid to speak the truth. He was always willing to help never
expecting anything in return. He was best known for his story telling and well known for being the slowest driver in Burt County.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents: Byron Dunning, and Charlie and Georgia Redding; his beloved grandson Drew Svendsen good friend and brother-in-law Mike Stutzman; and many friends
that walked beside him in life. He is survived by: his wife Linda of Decatur; his daughters, Amy Dunning (Brian Cheney) of Bennet, Jenny (Travis) Schmid of Waverly; grandchildren, Hunter,
Kennedy (Griffin), Reese (Kenna), Ava, Everlee, Tatym, Bryer, Laiklynn, and Daxton; great grandchildren, Rhett, Banks and Nash; many siblings (Spouses) and Nieces and Nephews, extended family
and friends that will miss him dearly.
