     I married Jack Maryott  in 1946 after attending the University of Nebraska and University of Colorado.  I retired from USDA (ASCS) in 1986 after 30 years of service. 

     Jack and I owned a fast food & arcade business for eight years.  Jack, who left our class to enlist in 1943, retired from the Postal Service in 1983.  He served 25 years on the Village Board, 16 years as Mayor.

     Decatur has always been our home and we're happy to join you in being a part of the past, present and future of this great little town!

March 21, 1926 - January 13, 2006

A memorial service was held, Monday, January 13, 2006 for Jacqueline M. Maryott at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur.  Rev. Brion P. Tolzmn officiated at the service.

Jacqueline Mae Maryott passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, IA at the age of 79 years.

Ethelyn Brewer served as organist for the service and Rod Baker was vocalist.  Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur.  Honorary casket bearers were Ramona Frese, Joan Hightree, Joan Saxton, Sharon Slaughter, Clark Beck, Dave Dye, Lonnie Slaughter, and Jim Webster.

Jacqueline Mae Maryott was born March 21, 1926, in Decatur, Nebraska, to Gerald Burt and Gladys Marie (Johnson) Eagleton.  Jackie attended Decatur Public Schools and graduated in 1943 as Class Valedictorian.  She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for three years and also the university of Colorado, majoring in Business Administration.  She was a member of the UNL, Honor Society and Phi Cheta Theata.

On October 27, 1946, Jacqueline was united in marriage to Jack W. Maryott of Decatur, where they lived their entire married life.  They had three sons, James Cameron in 1947, John William in 1949 and Jerry Burt, who died in infancy in 1955.

In 1986, Jackie retired after thirty years of service with the Burt County ASCS Office, USDA, where she served as Chief Administrative Clerk and Acting Executive Director.  In her earlier years, she was a bank teller at the Citizens State Bank in Decatur, after which she served as Decatur Village Clerk from 1952 to 1955.

From 1969 to 1977, Jackie and her husband, Jack, owned and operated a fast food business and arcade in Decatur.  Jack passed away December 11, 1998.

Jackie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur, the Decatur Community Club, and was a 54-year charter member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 6926.  She served on the Decatur Board of Education for nine years until 1968.  Jackie was a Decatur Historian, and also, a member of the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; an infant son, Jerry Burt; brother, James Eagleton, and sister, Mary Lee Trotter.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: James and Debbie Maryott, of Clinton, Utah and John and Shiela Maryott of Decatur; four grandchildren: Sonya, George and Jill Maryott, and Jaclyn Swaner; eight great-grandchildren: Austin, Alex, Jack, Ayana, Madison, Steven, Aiden, and Shayla; sister-in-law, Shirley Eagleton of Decatur; brother-in-law, Jerry Maryott of Decatur; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
