Information taken from the May 26, 1996 Decatur Alumni Banquet booklet

     Managed stockyards for 27 years for the United Stockyards Corporation.  Jim resigned from Omaha stockyards in 1986 and became the marketing administrator for the Department of Agriculture, State of Wisconsin, in Madison for 8 years.  Jim and Arlene are now retired living in Arlington, NE, just north of the Platte River.  The Smiths have 2 daughters:  Alysia, who is State Coordinator for Beef promotion with the National Livestock & Meat Board; and Deanne, who is an Exercise Physiology specialist at Stanford University in San Jose, CA.
