Janice Irene Byram was born 12 Jan 1931 in Decatur, NE. as 6 th child of Roy and
Myrtle Byram. She passed away 31 July 2019 in a nursing home in Phoenix, AZ at
the age of 87.
Janice lived in Decatur until 1948 at which time she moved to Mountain View, CA
staying with her sister Mrs. Beth O Donnell where she graduated from high school
in 1949.
Janice started as a freshman at UCLA but soon quit school when she married Bob
Wells. Janice started modeling in San Francisco. Her first son John Malcom Wells
was born in 1951 in San Francisco. Janice and Bob divorced in 1954.
In 1955 Janice moved to New York City where she was employed by Ilene Ford
modeling Agency. She next moved to Paris France modeling for the Doven Leigh
Agency. At this time, she was also designing clothes. In 1967 she moved back to
New York where her second son, David “Thomas” Wells was born in 1968.
Janice and Thomas moved to Decatur, NE in 1980 where she commuted to
Omaha for employment. Thomas graduated from high school in 1986 and soon
joined the army. In 1987 Janice moved to Chicago, IL to work for Amtrak.
Janice was transferred with Amtrak to San Jose, CA in 2000. She begin caring for
her sister Beth and soon they both moved to Phoenix, AZ, purchasing a home
there. Beth died in 2006.
Janice’s son Thomas died 19 Feb 2018.
Janice is survived by her son, John Wells, granddaughter, Hilary Wells, daughter-
in-law Stephanie Wells, three grandsons, Charles Wells, b.2003, Samuel Wells, b.
2005 and Alexander Wells, b.2009, a brother, John Byram, many nephews and
nieces, and a host of long-time friends.
