Major-Nix-Maryott, Jeanette Anne Jeanette was born on September 10, 1929 in Decatur, Nebraska to Francis and Agnes (Irvin) Hanson. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1947. She attended Midland College. She married Alford Major in 1948 and they began married life by farming but in 1952 Alf rejoined the Air Force and she followed him though his assignments in the Military. Alf died in 1980 and she became a business woman after having been a bookkeeper and office manager for Steamfitters Union #464 for many years. She ran the Major pig farrowing business for a period of years. She also over saw a buffalo and fescue grass seed operation. She restored the Whittier Home in Decatur where she lived for awhile after remarrying. Jeanette loved to travel and she sometimes took her niece Jennifer on her adventures. She was a generous Aunt and shared her generosity with her home town of Decatur recently giving the remainder of her estate. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Alford Major, Robert Nix and Ned Maryott. She is survived by; daughter, Kathryn Ann Gerard; dear friends and caregivers, Ann Erickson-Smith, Julie Mburu, all of Bellevue; sister-in-law, Jeannine Hansen; nephews, Larry, Jeff and Kelly Murphy, Jonathan Hanson; nieces, Jennifer Hanson, Debbie, Tammy. Then married Alford Major-- he was in the Air Force. We lived in California; Athens, Greece; Virginia; Hawaii and Bellevue, NE. I worked for 30 years as a bookkeeper/Secretary. I retired in 1993 from Steamfitters Local Union 464 in Omaha, where I had been for 22 years. Bob Nix and I have homes in Pensacola, FL and Nebraska and plan to spend more time in our Decatur Home in the future. |
