Keith A. Smith

July 26, 1953 - December 7, 2023

Keith A. Smith was born to Jim and Phyllis (Phelps) Smith July 26, 1953, in Decatur, Nebraska. He passed away December 7, 2023, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa, at the age of 70.

Keith married Peggy Mussack January 30, 1972. He was self-employed as a mechanic most of his life. He worked at Lubker Implement (John Deere in Lyons, Nebraska) and Decatur Co-op. He also spent 23 years on the Decatur Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. He lived all 70 years of his life in the Decatur area.  Keith liked to play cards, go boating and fishing, ride his Harley and spend time with his family.

Keith leaves behind a wife of nearly 52 years, Peggy (Mussack) Smith; daughter, Marie (Mike) Sunderman of Emerson, NE and their children, Andrew of Wayne, Mica and Kiya of Emerson; daughter, Kellie (Chris) Brown of Belton, TX and their children, Brieann (Shane) Ward of North Richland Hills, TX and Riley Brown of St. Marys, GA; great grandchildren, Jordyn, Drew and Sam; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Phyllis (Phelps) Smith; brother, Ted Smith; parents-in-law, Art and Janice (Kruse) Mussack.

Married in 1972 to Peggy Mussack.  We have two girls.

 I have been a mechanic since graduation, self employed the last five.
