Lonnie Neary

December 10, 1917- January 4, 2002

A Masonic service is pending in Shell Knob, Mo., for Alonzo J. “Lonnie” Neary, 84, a native of Decatur. Neary died Jan. 4, 2002 at Cassville, Mo.
 

The son of Martin G. and Helen (Tellifero) Neary, he was born Dec. 10, 1917 in Decatur.  He married Helen Brown Nov. 26, 1940, and joined the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in the China, Burma, and India theaters prior to his discharge in 1945.  Neary worked as a concrete mason in Omaha until his retirement in 1972, when he moved to Shell Knob. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles and Masonic Lodges.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1981, and parents. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Orville Menard of Omaha; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Earl Bucy, Tekamah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Del and Joan Neary, Atlantic, Iowa, and Joe and Dona Neary, Tekamah; and nieces and nephews.
