Marilyn Schroder Meyers

November 28, 1927 -- July 16, 2005

Chandler, AZ - Marilyn Meyers, 77, died on June 18, 2005 in Chandler.   Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2005 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born in Decatur, Nebraska on November 28, 1927 to Mayme and Harold Schroder. She lived with her parents on their farm near Decatur, attended country school, and later graduated from Decatur High School in 1944. She enlisted in the Cadet Nurse Program and took her training at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, South Dakota. She was registered with the South Dakota Board of Nursing.

She married Jacque Meyers in December of 1947 and is survived by him and their five children, Sandra Hellwig, Sioux Falls, SD, Jacque Meyers, Jr., Arden Hills, MN, Marry Mastel, Minnetonka, MN, Patricia Meyers, Rapid City, SD, and Richard Meyers, Menomonee Falls, WI; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Bush, and brothers, Neil, Elmer and Dwight Schroder.

Marilyn worked in Sioux Falls as a registered nurse at Sioux Valley Hospital, and then as an office nurse for Dr. Stahman and Dr. Mutch, and later for the Good Samaritan Society and Luther Manor as a geriatric nurse, Director of Nursing, and as a consultant. Shortly after retiring, she moved with her husband to Chandler, Arizona, where they had enjoyed their retirement years.

I graduated with my registered nurse degree from St. Mary's hospital in Pierre, SD.

 My husband and I lived in Rapid City, SD for 14 years, then moved back to Sioux Falls, SD where we raised our family. 

We retired in 1991 and bought a home in Arizona.  I am looking forward to the reunion in May.
