Mary Kay Chase, age 92,
of Onawa, Iowa formerly of Decatur,
Nebraska passed away Monday, November
26th,at the Burgess Health Center in
Onawa, Iowa. Memorial services will be
held Saturday, December 1st, at 10:30
a.m. at the Decatur United Methodist
Church with Pastor Sloatt officiating.
Mary Elizabeth Kessinger was born
February 28, 1920 on a farm near Pender,
Nebraska to Francis and Clara (Glissman)
Kessinger. Her childhood years were
spent in the Thurston and Burt County
area where she attended grade school,
graduating from Decatur High School in
1937.
In 1940, Mary and Raymond Gallup were
united in marriage at Dakota City,
Nebraska. To this union three children
were born, Larry, Bonnie and Linda.
Raymond and Mary farmed in the Blackbird
Community, moving to Decatur in 1945
where they owned and operated
businesses. Raymond passed away in 1953.
Ralph Chase and Mary were married in
Tekamah, Nebraska.. During her life time
she was an active member of the United
Methodist Church, UMW, Democratic Women
and was a 50 year member of Eastern
Star.
Mary loved spending time with her family
and friends.
Grateful for having Mary in their lives
are daughters: Linda (Gary) Warren,
Bonnie (Emmett) Hennig; daughter-in-law
Joyce Gallup; sisters: Dorothy Wilson,
and Arlene Kurtz; sister-in-law Bonnie
Mitchell; brother-in-law Roy Nelson;
step- daughters Mary Alice Connealy,
Helen Jane Tobin, and Annelle Bruno;
step-sons Rob Chase, Grant Chase and
Chuck Chase; 25 grandchildren; and many
great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her
parents, husband Raymond, husband Ralph,
son Larry, sister Katherine Nelson, and
brothers Glen Kessinger, Frank Kessinger
and Warren (Jack) Kessinger.
