Melvin Stillman (Deceased)
Funeral rites were held April 2 at Decatur United Methodist Church for Melvin Stillman, 69. He died March 29, 1985 in Decatur. Melvin Austin Stillman was born March 15, 1916, in Decatur. He was the second of five children born to Thomas and Nell Farber Stillman. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1935. He moved to California at the age of 19 to work as a carpenter. While there he married Fay Orr. They had one daughter. He served in World War II and was discharged in 1944. He lived in California before returning to Decatur in 1960. He married Ethel Williams October 22, 1961. They lived in the Decatur area. Stillman was a member of the Texas Lions Club and the Decatur VFW Post No 6926. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Allen. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Jack (Judy) Pluckett and three granddaughters, Sylmar, CA; Step daughter, Mrs. Jim (Lucretia) Reno of Decatur and Mrs. Ronald (Rosemary) Keckner of Schuyler; four Granddaughters; two step Grandsons; three step-grandchildren; brothers, Harry Stillman of Decatur and Ronnie Stillman of Santa Rosa, CA, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Busse of California. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery near Decatur.
