Phillip Irvin Hanson 1942 - 2005 O B I T U A R Y Phillip Irvin Hanson of Grayslake. A funeral service for Phillip Irvin Hanson, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be Saturday, in Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Neb. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee, 305 Cemetery Road, Gurnee, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday, at the church. Born Aug. 11, 1942, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Francis Harvard and Agnes G. (Irvin) Hanson, he passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. Phillip married Jeanine Ludtke on Aug. 23, 1969, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Romeo, Mich. He was a veteran of the Navy and graduated from the University of Nebraska. Phillip was employed in sales and marketing for medical systems and information technology. During his career, he lent his expertise to numerous companies, including; General Motors, Shared Medical Systems (SMS), and McDonell Douglas. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waukegan, where he and his wife were involved in many of the volunteer programs. He was also a former council member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing, Mich. Phillip was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Sailing was a favorite activity. Survivors include his wife, Jeanine of Grayslake; children, Jennifer (Eric Kilbride) Hanson-Kilbride of Takoma Park, Maryland, Jonathan Hanson of Hermosa Beach, California; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Farrens of Decatur, Nebraska, and Jeanette Major-Nix of Bellevue, Nebraska; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Hanson of Omaha, Nebraska. Memorials may be made to C.O.O.L. Food Pantry, 121 W. Water, Waukegan, Illinois 60085. From the May 30, 2010 reunion booklet Spouse: Jeanine Hanson Children: Jennifer Hanson Kilbride (39), Eric Kilbride-son-in-law & Jonathan Hanson (36) Phil attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE until 1962 when he entered the Navy. He served on the Wasp Aircraft Carrier until 1965 when he returned to college at the University of Nebraska. He graduated in 1968 was a BS in Business , taking a job in Flint, Michigan for General Motors Parts Division. His thirty-year career in sales/marketing of hardware and software began in 1973. During those years he worked for Sharid Medical Systems, McDonnell Douglas and Ibox. At the time of his death he was semi-retired selling and marketing web services for several companies. Phil volunteered at his church and in the communities where he lived. He enjoyed golfing, sailing, bowling, traveling and reading. He married Jeanine Ludtke in 1969. They had two children, Jennifer Hanson Kilbride and Jonathan Hanson. Jennifer was married in 1997 to Eric Kilbride. |
