Joined the navy from 3-51 to 3-55. Worked as a teamster for 45 years. Retired April 1996 from Robert's Dairy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 14, 1931 - January 24, 2005 Decatur resident Robert Bruce Farber, 73, died January 24, 2005 at the Pender Community Hospital. A graveside service was held January 26, 2005, in the Lyons Cemetery. A memorial service followed at United Methodist Church in Decatur with Rev. Philip Sloat officiating. Helen Thomas was organist. He was born April 14, 1931, in Decatur to Bruce A. and Sadie (Pounds) Farber. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1949. September 3, 1952, he married Barbara Leone Gallup. After he was discharged from the U.S. Navy, they lived in San Diego, CA. The couple moved to Omaha in 1955 where he worked for Roberts Dairy. In 1996, the year following his wife's death, Farber retired to Decatur. In October 2002, after his marriage to Maureen Luschen, he moved to Wakefield. Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife; brother, Dick Farber; and five sisters, Betty Whitacre, Reva Campbell, Juanita Crane, Eileen Hutt and Pearl Morley. Survivors include his wife of Wakefield; five children and spouses: Dr. Bobbi Farber and her husband; Thomas Walsh of Columbus, GA; Curtis and Stephanie Farber of San Diego, CA; Paula and Kevin Bruland of Omaha; Danny Farber of Decatur, and Steven Farber of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren ; sister and brother-in-law, Myra Sue and Harold Shaw of Santa Maria, CA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ned and Pat Farber of Tampa, FL; David and Jane Farber of Decatur, and Kerry Farber of Tekamah; nieces and nephews.
