(Sears) Woodward, 31 Grandchildren: Nathaniel, Jaylin, Chris, Emma and Jace The 1959 Graduation Class of eight was the smallest class graduating from the existing school house, which was up and running around 1936. Four girls and four boys and all four of us boys were in the military. When I graduated I was a farm hand working for Ned Maryott until Fall. Went in to the Marine Corps 1959-1963. We had a great option during this time---join or be drafted. Worked for a time at Pipers Funeral Home in Lyons and CB&Q railroad out of Lyons. Moved to Valley, NE in 1965 and worked for Sieg Nebraska Co. in Omaha, NE. I married Cathy on 6-6-66 (42 years). Moved to Council Bluffs, IA in 1968. Worked for Omaha Steaks International and Crown Rubber Manufactory for a couple of years. Joined the teamsters in 1970 and started work for Yellow Freight Company. Moved the family up to Decatur in 1983 and retired from Yellow in 1998. I have been retired going on my 11th year coming September and loving every bit of it. I only lost one day of work and that was when I was changing jobs since the wife and I were married. Been up to Canada and few times and we have gone to Alaska twice...love it up there. Interests are my computer, auctions, antiquing, fishing, hunting and love my grandchildren very dearly. I'm up to my eyeballs in the American Legion as well as other volunteer jobs. The beauty of it all is that I have not had to work for a pay check since I retired in 1998. THANK GOD FOR THE HEALTH ONE RECEIVES!! |
