    Evelyn Ellen (Smith) King passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 in United Hospital Center of Bridgeport, WV. She was born August 5, 1925, in Decatur, Nebraska, to Stephen Ross Smith and Lillie (Knapp) Smith. She graduated from Decatur High School. She married Frank Elmen King, Jr. on January 11, 1944, in Gilroy, California. 

    She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (David) Kraus of Alum Bridge and sons Ronald (Iris) King of Bridgeport and Randall (Amanda) King of Sandyville, WV. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Beth (Rich) Haley, Mark (Roxanne) Kraus, Lee (Shelly) Kraus, Jeff (Inna) King, Lori Wilmoth, Aimee (Robert) Browning, Melissa Hoskins, Martha (Scott) Warne, Heather (Jamie) Gifford, Chad (Angel) King, Evan Hughes and Justin Hughes and 22 great grandchildren: Trey, David, Camdyn, Weston, Alexander, Emily, Alexandra, Vidar, Nate, Hunter, Grace, Josiah, Emma, Justin, Jessica, Ashley, MacKenzie,Tori, Cullen, Courtney, Zhanna and Yarik and 3 great,great grandchildren Layla, Rocca and Sessa. Also surviving is one sister, Virginia Toben, of Shrewsbury, PA and several neices and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by one grandson: Scott King, and one great grandson, Wyatt, two brothers, Oliver and Earl Smith, and four sisters, Charlotte, Bess, Dorothy and Effie.

    Mrs. King was employed by the Doddridge County Extension Office for a number of years. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston and a member of several CEOS groups during her lifetime and served as the Lewis County Belle to the West Virginia State Folk Festival. She was an active member of the East Lewis Lion's Club for several years and worked at the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee for several years. She served as Past Worthy Matron of Weston Chapter# 40 Order of Eastern Star. Her greatest joy was her family and she enjoyed cooking special meals for holidays and special family events.

    Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jim Lang officiating. Interment will follow services in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. There will be an Eastern Star service on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.
