Dorothy Hightree Elliott (deceased)
January 9, 1925 - May 7, 2005 Services for Dorothy M. Elliott of Tekamah were May 12, at First Baptist Church in Tekamah. She died May 7, 2005, in Omaha at the age of 80. She was born January 9, 1925 near Decatur, the oldest of five children born to Ralph Levi and Gladys A. (Rouse) Hightree. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1942 and attended Commercial Extension Business College in Omaha for one year. August 25, 1944, she married Ray W. Elliott and was a homemaker and helpmate on their farm near Tekamah. The couple retired from farming in 1994 and moved into Tekamah in 1997. Ray died on October 26, 1997. Her parents also preceded her in death. Mrs. Elliott was a member of First Baptist Church in Tekamah. She was active in Women's Society, chairman of Rebecca Circle and co-chairman of the work group. She was also president of the Arizona Club. Dorothy enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors, miniature cattle, traveling and card club. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Iona and Dwight Long of Lyons; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Beulah Hightree of Lyons, Charles Hightree of Lyons and Donald and Lorraine Hightree of Pilger; nieces; nephews; sisters-in-law, Gennie Elliott of Craig and Elsie Elliott of Tekamah; and caring friends including Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Peterson and family. Rev. John A. Dennert officiated. Gayle Shackelford provided music. Casket bearers were Donald L. Hightree, Rick Hightree, Mark Long, Martin Long, Lonnie Elliott and Larry Elliott. Honorary bearers were Mike Long, Bill Gorgen, Tom Hightree, Stanley Hightree, Brian Elliott, Jeff Carr, James Hightree, Jim Elliott, Paul Elliott, Steve Carr and Eugene Hightree. Burial was in Tekamah Cemetery.
